Diljit Dosanjh often makes headlines for various reasons, but recently, the Punjabi actor-singer has been at the center of controversy. The casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his latest film Sardaar Ji 3 has sparked significant backlash. However, some artists have come forward in his support. After Javed Akhtar, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has now voiced his solidarity with Diljit amid the ongoing trolling.

On June 30, Naseeruddin Shah took to his Facebook page and posted, “I STAND FIRMLY WITH DILJIT.” He added, “The dirty tricks department of the Jumla Party has been waiting for a chance to attack him. They think they’ve finally got it. He was not responsible for the casting of the film—the director was. But no one knows who the director is, whereas Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned.”
He continued, “What these goons want is to end personal interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. I have close relatives and dear friends there, and no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love whenever I feel like it.” Shah ended his post with a bold message: “My response to those who will say ‘Go to Pakistan’ is ‘GO TO KAILASA.’”
His post drew mixed reactions from netizens. “His co-actor gave anti-India and anti-Army statements, so Indians have the right to call for a boycott,” wrote one Facebook user. Another commented, “You’re a true living legend, embodying the values of truth and reason. Your actions today have showcased that.”
For the unversed, Hania Aamir came under fire for criticizing India’s Operation Sindoor, a counter-terror mission launched after the Pahalgam terror attack.
As for Sardaar Ji 3, the film has been released only in overseas markets and has reportedly received a positive response in Pakistan.
