Thousands of eager fans were left frustrated on Sunday as ticketing platform BookMyShow crashed just minutes before Coldplay concert tickets were set to go on sale. The British rock band is bringing their “Music of the Spheres World Tour” to Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on January 18 and 19, 2025, marking their return to India after an 8-year hiatus.
At 12 PM, when ticket sales were scheduled to begin, BookMyShow’s website and app became unresponsive, preventing fans from accessing the ticketing page.Social media platforms were quickly flooded with complaints and memes as users expressed their disappointment.
“Never understood why on earth BookMyShow is chosen as the ticketing partner for bookings. They messed up with World Cup tickets, and now the Coldplay scene. App crashed,” wrote one frustrated fan on X (formerly Twitter).
Even as sales begin, many users reported persistent issues with the website, unable to progress through the booking process. This left numerous fans missing out on the tickets.
Coldplay has added another show in India on January 21, 2025, and it’ll happen at the same venue, Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, as the other shows.
Ticket prices for the highly anticipated shows range from Rs 2,500 to Rs 12,500, with a limit of four tickets per transaction. The concerts promise to be a spectacular affair, featuring a mix of hits from Coldplay’s latest album “Music of the Spheres” alongside beloved classics like “Yellow” and “Viva La Vida.”
This marks Coldplay’s second performance in India, following their 2016 appearance at the Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai. The band’s world tour has already sold over 10 million tickets globally since its launch in March 2022.
