Dreaded gangster Romil Vohra was killed in an encounter with police on the Delhi-Haryana border on Tuesday morning. A notorious member of the Kala Rana gang and a wanted criminal in multiple states, Vohra was gunned down by the Special Cell of Delhi Police near the Prem Bari Bridge after a brief but intense exchange of gunfire.

According to the police, Romil Vohra opened fire when confronted near the canal. In the retaliatory action by the police, he was fatally shot. Two police officers, SI Praveen and Rohan, sustained injuries during the operation and are currently undergoing treatment in hospital. Vohra had an award of Rs 3 lakh on his head.

A resident of Ashok Vihar, Romil was only 20 years old but had already earned a reputation as a dangerous criminal. His name was directly linked to the high-profile triple murder in Khedi Lakha Singh, Yamunanagar, and the killing of liquor trader Shantanu in Kurukshetra.

Within just eight months, he was allegedly responsible for four murders and had been involved in several other serious crimes, including extortion, robbery, and illegal arms smuggling. Law enforcement agencies in Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi registered nine criminal cases against him, making him one of the most wanted criminals in the region.

Romil’s descent into the world of crime began early. With little interest in education, he left school after class 10 and was soon drawn into criminal networks, reportedly influenced by his father, Kapil, who is also in jail. Lured by the glamor of quick money and power, Romil turned to gang activities and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a shooter and planner for the Kala Rana gang.

Authorities revealed that Vohra was not only involved in violent crimes but also played a key role in recruiting and radicalising younger boys into criminal activities. His lifestyle and operations had become a symbol of fear and disruption in Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Mohali, and surrounding areas.
