Ektaa Kapoor’s iconic television soap, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, is gearing up to mark its 25 glorious years with a whole new season, much to the delight of its fans. With the new season on the horizon, television lovers have been hit with a wave of nostalgia about the original show and its much-loved characters. With the comeback of this iconic series, so have the memories of one of its most unforgettable villains, ‘Ansh Gujral’, played by Akashdeep Saigal.
Akashdeep Saigal remembers Ektaa Kapoor’s shock at his death scene
Recently, during a chat with Zoom, Akashdeep Saigal spilt some behind-the-scenes secrets surrounding the death of ‘Ansh Gujral’, one of the most iconic moments of KSBKBT that left its viewers gasping. Talking about the legendary scene where ‘Tulsi’ (played by Smriti Irani) kills ‘Ansh’, Akashdeep shared:
“I remember it was before 17th or 18th December because on 24th I was going to visit Goa — I, Shabbir Ahluwalia, and Prachi Shah — we all were going to be there. This episode happened where I was to be killed, and that scene happened. And then, there was an episode where I was in the hospital, where Smriti (as Tulsi) came and cried. She mourned and (said) ‘My son, I love you so much, but it is better you die’.”
While it was surely a memorable moment for fans of the serial, Akashdeep hadn’t expected Ektaa Kapoor to be stunned after watching him shoot the death scene of ‘Ansh’. It turns out that his menacing performance was so intense that Ektaa (whom he lovingly calls Ektu) herself couldn’t help but react in shock, even though she was the one who approved the storyline. With great amusement, Akashdeep added:
“I did my last scene where I did my part (that was required). When I reached Goa, Ektu told me ‘Are you mad or what? What did you do? She’s the main protagonist’ (laughs). And because of that, somewhere I feel Eklavya (Ansh’s son) probably came into the picture.”

The OG fans would remember the moment when ‘Tulsi’ killed her biological son, ‘Ansh’, to protect her daughter-in-law, ‘Nandini’, played by Gauri Pradhan. The dark storyline shot the show’s viewership ratings high-up, becoming the most talked-about moment in its eight-year run. Recalling Ektaa’s candid reaction and his deep respect for the producer, Akashdeep said:
“What does an actor want? The person who created such a huge and iconic show told me this. Can that only be taken as the best compliment an actor can ever get? So, (then) we laughed… She’s been so nice. I truly surrender my love and my respect for her.”

Ektaa Kapoor recently confirmed that Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi will make a grand comeback with a brand-new season, launching on July 3, 2025, exactly 25 years after its original debut. Much to the delight of fans, Smriti Irani is reportedly reprising her role as ‘Tulsi Virani’, along with OG stars like Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, and Sandeep Baswana.
