The New York City Police Department (NYPD) announced Sunday that it is deploying additional resources across various sites in NYC after the US launched strikes on Iran’s three nuclear enrichment facilities. With the US now involved, concerns are growing about security in major US cities as Iran responded with fury to the strikes. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei had earlier warned that American involvement would bring “irreparable damage.”In a post on X, the department’s official account said, “We’re tracking the situation unfolding in Iran. Out of an abundance of caution, we’re deploying additional resources to religious, cultural, and diplomatic sites across NYC and coordinating with our federal partners. We’ll continue to monitor for any potential impact to NYC.”The department informed it is sending more officers to religious, cultural, and diplomatic sites throughout the city in coordination with federal agencies. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that the US had “successfully” attacked Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan sites, with a “full payload of BOMBS” dropped on Fordow, which he described as the primary target.“Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he added. The situation escalates ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran which began on June 13 when Israel launched “Operation Rising Lion,” targeting Iranian military and nuclear sites. In retaliation, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a large-scale drone and missile strike, “Operation True Promise 3,” targeting Israeli jet fuel production and energy infrastructure. With the US now involved, concerns are growing about the broader impact of the conflict, prompting increased security measures in major US cities like New York.Iranian authorities executed on Sunday a man convicted of being an agent for Israel’s Mossad spy service, the judiciary said, as fighting raged between the two foes for a tenth day.“Majid Mosayebi… was hanged this morning after going through the full process of criminal procedure and after his sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court,” the judiciary’s Mizan Online website said, adding that he sought to provide “sensitive information … to Mossad.” Iranian authorities have carried out multiple arrests of people suspected of spying for Israel since its attack on June 13.
