Bollywood’s most-awaited action blockbuster film, War 2, is all set to hit the theatres on August 14, 2025, bringing together two iconic stars, Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR against each other but under one roof. The film is directed by Ayan Mukerji and is the next addition in YRF’s spy universe. After the massive success of War, starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, fans have very high hopes for this film, especially after the makers released the teaser in May, 2025.
Ayan Mukerji’s take on the film, War 2
Ayan Mukerji is known for his storytelling skills in films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Brahmastra and more. Now, he has stepped into action films with War 2. While talking about the film, he admitted that this film is not just another project but is a huge responsibility because the previous film, War, was a great success at the box office and had set a benchmark for action films. He shared in a press statement:
“It is a huge responsibility to take forward a hugely loved franchise like War and leave your own mark on it. I saw directing War 2 as a relishing opportunity to give a hat-tip to the first film. You can’t have fun otherwise while coming on board such a huge blockbuster franchise. One has to take what has been set and then make the fans of the film and the fans of these gigantic superstars of our country go on a journey that is new, that hopefully leaves them hungry for more. As a director, I have to be honest, I immersed myself into delivering this feeling.”
He also spoke about the pre-production stage. Maximum time was spent on designing the storyline and making the sets. The team wanted to make sure that the action scenes between Hrithik and Jr. NTR are not just visually beautiful but also filled with emotions. He also spoke about the new and fresh pairing. In his words:
“Everything about War 2 has been crafted with a lot of planning to elevate the theatrical experience of the audience. The maximum time spent was on the action set pieces and crafting the storyline and the conflict which was needed to mount the face off between Hrithik Roshan and NTR. War 2 is truly the coming together of Indian cinema with these two huge actors joining forces. We were aware of the expectations this pairing would set in the minds of their fans and the audience and every second was spent thinking of how to give them an experience of a lifetime when they sit in the theatres.”

War 2 is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster film, War. The film stars Hrithik Roshan as ‘Kabir’, Jr. NTR, and Kiara Advani playing the female lead. The teaser, which was released in May 2025, generated a lot of buzz and excitement among fans. The teaser also generated buzz about Kiara Advani’s bikini look in the film. Several fans commented underneath the teaser saying, “Hrithik x NTR = Boom”. While the plot remains a secret, the film promises amazing and unbelievable action scenes and a blockbuster storyline.
