NO SHOW — Giorgio Armani won’t take his final bow at his shows at Milan Men’s Fashion Week.

The company issued a brief statement on Friday announcing that the designer is “currently recovering at home” and won’t be present at the Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani shows, scheduled for Saturday and on Monday, respectively.

“Mr. Armani has worked with his usual dedication on the collections that will be presented. Although he cannot be there in person, he will closely follow every phase of the shows,” said the statement.

In his place, Leo Dell’Orco, head of menswear design, will take the final bow at the shows.

Most recently, Armani was seen attending the opening of the exhibition “Giorgio Armani Privé 2005-2025, Twenty Years of Haute Couture.” Running May 21 to Dec. 28, the showcase marks the milestone for the designer’s Privé line, which he introduced with a spring 2005 collection paraded in Paris.

Armani himself curated the set-up at the Silos space, which had more than 150 couture looks arranged across four levels.

“We’ve heard you’ve curated the installation yourself until last night,” Armani was told at the opening event. “Actually, until this morning,” he quickly replied.

The exchange best exemplified the unwavering dedication Armani has for his job. Hence the statement the company issued on Friday left many fashion insiders puzzled.

The Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani shows are also among the biggest events planned for this edition of Milan Men’s Fashion Week, running through Tuesday but marked by a very slim schedule.
