His sudden demise left his family, and friends in deep shock. Sunjay’s last rites are being held in New Delhi on June 19, 2025 and his ex-wife, Karisma Kapoor will also attend to pay her respects to the deceased along with their kids, Samaira and Kiaan.

The past week has been extremely difficult for the Kapur-Kapoor family. The tragic loss came as a shock to his ex-wife, Karisma Kapoor and their children, Samaira and Kiaan. The unfortunate incident took place on the afternoon of June 12, 2025 (BST), when Sunjay was playing polo with his friends. Now, the time for his final adieu has come around and Karisma is on the way with Kiaan and Samaira to pay their respects.
According to a video shared by Pallav Paliwal, Karisma Kapoor was seen heading out with her children, Kiaan and Samaira. The three of them were dressed in white and Karisma had her sunglassed on as she prepared to leave. The actress has not made any comments or interacted with the media since the news of Sunjay’s demise broke out, as the news has been extremely heartbreaking for the families.

Sunjay Kapur’s last rites will be held in Delhi
It was only yesterday, June 18, 2025, when the Kapur family issued a press note, informing everyone about the funeral. The note shared that the funeral will be held on June 19, 2025, at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground, New Delhi. It further revealed that on June 22, 2025, between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., a prayer meet would take place at the Taj Palace Hotel.
The prayer meeting note from the Kapur family featured Sunjay Kapur’s photo and a quote written in Gurumukhi from Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The note concluded with Sunjay’s mother’s name and his third wife, Priya Sachdev’s name. It also had all his children’s names, including Samaira and Kiaan (kids from Karisma Kapoor), his step-daughter, Saifra, and his son, Azarias (son from his third wife).
Sunjay Kapur’s death cause
According to close sources, Sunjay Kapur was playing polo at the Guards Polo Club in London, United Kingdom, when he felt it difficult to breathe and was suffocated mid-game. He requested to stop the game and then left the ground. Soon, he suffered a heart attack and died. An insider also revealed that Sunjay Kapur reportedly swallowed a bee, and it could be that the bee sting in his throat, which caused a heart attack. It is worth noting that Sunay Kapur had a polo team called ‘Aureus’, in which he served as a patron. The businessman was playing against ‘Sujan’, a team led by the hotelier, Jaisal Singh. A picture of the businessman was shared by the ‘Aureus’ on their Instagram handle soon after his death.
