Jennifer Love Hewitt, reprising her role as Julie James in the I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel, delivers her iconic “What are you waiting for?” line in the latest trailer from Sony that dropped on Tuesday.

But in director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson‘s follow-up pic that revives the slasher horror franchise, Love Hewitt says the line a quiet and seething frustration in a close-up shot.

That contrasts with the 1997 original movie of the same name when James stood in the middle of a road and, suddenly turning, delivered a primal scream to the unknown killer stalking them: “What are you waiting for, huh? What are you waiting for?” she yelled.

In the sequel that hits theaters on July 18, a now older Love Hewitt urges a group of five friends facing similarly dangerous consequences after their involvement in a tragic car accident to fight back against the hook-wielding killer pursuing them.

Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel stars Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Hauer-King and Chase Sui Wonders, with both Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. reprising their roles from the first feature and its 1998 follow-up.

Robinson directs the latest sequel from a screenplay she co-wrote with Sam Lansky after an initial script from Leah McKendrick. Neal Moritz, who was a producer on the original film, also returns.

The initial I Know What You Did Last Summer hit theaters Oct. 17, 1997. The cast also included Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe and focused on a group of friends stalked by a villain with a hook after they tried to cover up hitting him with their car.

That movie was written by Scream scribe Kevin Williamson and based on the 1973 novel of the same name from author Lois Duncan.
