Just in time for sweltering summer days, Tatcha has released a lightweight alternative to the Dewy Skin Cream that’s earned more celebrity fans than we can count on one hand (including ones like Jennifer Aniston and Selena Gomez, whose radiant skin speaks volumes). Our editors got our hands on the new Tatcha Dewy Milk Moisturizer ahead of its June 17 debut and already deem it one of the best beauty launches of summer 2025.

Put simply, the Dewy Milk Moisturizer is best for oily and combination skin types, while the pre-existing Dewy Skin Cream caters to those with parched dry skin. The OG Dewy Skin Cream achieved sensational social media fame (to the tune of over 300 million views on TikTok) for its ability to create a glassy, healthy sheen on even the driest of skin types. But that hydration prowess — fueled by ingredients like squalane, red algae, and hyaluronic acid — can overwhelm oily and acne-prone skin types.

According to the brand, this lighter-weight version of the Dewy Skin Cream is the most requested Tatcha product of all time. To translate the Dewy Skin Cream’s magic to a featherweight formula, Tatcha employs fast-absorbing, skin-balancing ingredients like probiotic green tea extract, zinc hyaluronate, and Japanese purple rice (an ingredient that helps to protect the skin from environmental stressors). Altogether, these ingredients help to prevent excess oil absorption while delivering grease-free hydration to the skin — a combo that our editors can’t live without this time of year. Read on for more details on the launch.

Tatcha Dewy Milk Moisturizer Review — Editor Testing Notes

Tatcha’s Dewy Skin Cream is a staple beauty product in my routine: When I use it consistently, I notice less redness and more radiance. That said, my skin tends to experience breakouts during summertime that, similar to my wardrobe, requires lighter layers to stay comfortable. That’s why the news of Tatcha’s lightweight iteration of the iconic Dewy Skin Cream caught my full attention. If any brand could render a cult-favorite formula into a 2.0 iteration that’s actually worth the hype, it’s Tatcha.

One notable aspect of the Dewy Milk Moisturizer is its packaging. This is the first Tatcha moisturizer available in an airless pump instead of a tub. This makes the product easier to dose and, in my opinion, also makes it feel more sanitary to use. (Tatcha’s Dewy Skin Cream does come with a spatula for hands-free scooping, but I know that products in airless packaging maintain their freshness longer than ones in open-top containers.)

Because the texture of the product errs more on the side of a great face serum, I’ve found that it performs gorgeously under makeup — particularly full-coverage foundations and concealers. The original Dewy Skin Cream packs a lot of emollients that can cause those types of products to slip without a good amount of makeup primer or setting spray. The Dewy Milk Moisturizer, on the other hand, lays down the perfect amount of hydration to prep the skin for makeup application.

After testing the formula for two weeks, I’ve found that the Dewy Milk Moisturizer is a godsend for my summer beauty routine. Where the Dewy Skin Cream mostly moisturizes the skin, this new launch actually balances my combination complexion (those with a similar skin type know that this is no small feat). For acne-prone skin types, it’s also a chance to see what all the fuss over the Dewy Skin Cream is about, considering it delivers the same bounce and glow.
