For Damson Idris, on the occasion of tonight’s F1 premiere in New York City, arriving in a standard black car just wouldn’t do. Instead, the actor pulled up to Radio City Music Hall in a Mercedes-AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition—a limited-edition whip designed exclusively for the sports action film. It was a stylish arrival, to say the least, though just one of many fashionable moments throughout the night.
Styled by Daisy Haddigan, Idris, who stars in FI alongside Brad Pitt, wore a double-breasted pinstripe three-piece suit by Prada from the house’s fall 2025 collection. The actor completed the look with black leather leather Chelsea boots and some very special accessories: a beaded necklace, a sparkling ring, and a gem extender worn as a bracelet from his forthcoming luxury jewelry brand DIDRIS.

Damson’s approach to red carpet dressing “all starts with the clothes,” he tells Vogue ahead of the premiere. “I need to feel the fit, the fabric, the vibe of the outfit before anything else. I can’t force a look; it has to come naturally in the moment.” Indeed, Idris was weighing suiting options just hours before the carpet, ultimately landing on the Prada look (which he wore sans shirt). “I wanted something that felt modern and sophisticated,” Idris says, adding that the premiere was the culmination of much work and personal energy. “It was important to me to wear something that honored that. It means a lot to celebrate this night and all that I’ve built.”
The hotly anticipated film, which Idris teased at the 2025 Met Gala, involved months of training—including lessons from actual F1 drivers. “I had to learn how to move and think like someone who lives and breathes racing, and that was both humbling and inspiring,” Idris says. Now, he gets to enjoy the film’s debut on the big screen. “I’m just excited to see everyone’s reaction,” he adds. “We put so much into this film—the training, the stunts, the emotion—and to finally share it with an audience, especially one full of F1 fans? That’s the moment.”
Ahead, more from Idris’s night at the F1 premiere.
