Dua Lipa and Callum Turner are officially engaged, which should feel vindicating to all those eagle-eyed celebrity news readers who spotted the pop singer wearing a diamond ring on her fourth lefthand finger in a Christmas Eve photo dump last year. Lipa is clearly thrilled about the decision—and about her ring—too, telling British Vogue: “It’s nice to know the person that you’re going to spend the rest of your life with knows you very well.” It is nice, indeed!

He’s an accomplished actor with plenty of credits to his name

Most recently, Turner starred alongside Austin Butler in the Emmy-winning World War II miniseries Masters of the Air, but he’s also appeared in films including Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Emma, The Only Living Boy in New York, Divine, and The Boys in the Boat. In 2019, Turner was nominated for the British Academy Television Award for best actor for his performance in the mystery series The Capture.

He’s no nepo baby

Turner was raised on a council estate in Chelsea, England, by a single mother, Rosemary Turner, who worked as a club promoter when he was young. “The thing I always find interesting in my childhood was, yeah, I was growing up on an estate, single mum, working-class, but then I also had all these colorful characters around. It wasn’t about navigating two worlds. There were three, four, five more,” Turner told The Standard in 2019.

He was once roommates with Steve Strange

The legendary Visage singer and Blitz club co-founder lived with Turner and his mother on and off during Turner’s childhood, a time during which he consistently livened up their apartment. Turner recalled: “Living with Steve was brilliant, him screaming at my mum, ‘Don’t wear that out! Everyone’s going to see you and they’ll take the piss out of me!’”
