In recent times, the genre of horror-comedy seems to have clicked really well with the theatre-going audience. Whether the Stree or Bhool Bhulaiya franchise of Bollywood, or Aranmanai of regional cinema, the combination of horror plus comedy has worked really well. Hence, people are really excited to see another film of this genre,  The Raja Saab, starring the pan-Indian superstar, Prabhas. As per the makers, this upcoming horror-comedy is made on India’s biggest horror set, which spans over 4000 sq ft.

The Raja Saab haveli is an important part of the film’s narrative

Prabhas will be starring in the lead role in The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi. Meanwhile, popular art director, Rajeevan Nambiar is in charge of the set. He has designed the haveli, which serves as the most integral part of the horror story, to be an immersive experience for the viewers. The haveli and its shadowy corners hold many important premises of the story, which will slowly unfold for the viewers.

As per reports, the haveli spans across an area of 41,256 sq ft. Everything about this space is going to be massive, from its huge corridors and wide rooms to towering doors. All of these features play an important role in the film’s story. These spaces will be explored by the protagonist and the viewers as the film progresses on the screen. That is why the art director, Rajeevan Nambiar, wanted the set to feel haunted. In a press note of the film, he said:

“Every detail had to serve the emotion, not just the aesthetics. We wanted the set to feel haunted, not just look haunted. The aim was to create something that draws you in the moment you enter, whether you’re a viewer or walking through it.”

The Raja Saab makers say that the haveli is India’s biggest horror set and it is made from scratch

Made on over 4000 sq ft, The Raja Saab horror set is India’s biggest set made for this genre. The makers also said in the press statement that everything was custom-built for the set so that it could enhance the haunted feeling even more. They call it ‘storytelling through space’ and say that even the floors have been designed to add visual texture to the film and the horror premise. The film’s team said:

“Every stone, prop, and shade within the Haveli has been custom-built to elevate the horror. Even the floor has been designed to add an eerie texture to the visuals. This isn’t just set design—it’s storytelling through space.”

The Raja Saab haveli will be opened to the media on the day of the teaser release

The Raja Saab official teaser will be dropping on June 16, 2025. On this same day the filmmakers will open the gates of the set for media’s observation, as per a News18 report. This is done to give the media a glimpse into the horror comedy world of director, Maruthi’s upcoming film starring Prabhas. Through media reports, the public will also get a preview of the set of this highly anticipated film, before watching it in theatres.
