Anirudh Ravichander comes from a family with many talents and deep connections with the world of entertainment. His father, Ravi Raghavendra, is an actor; meanwhile, his mother, Lakshmi Ravichander, is a classical dancer. His aunt, Latha, is also married to superstar, Rajinikanth. In 2012, a Tamil song called ‘Why This Kolaveri Di!’ went viral across the nation even though many people did not understand the meaning at all. The singer of ‘Kolaveri Di’ was Tamil superstar, Dhanush, but the song was a stroke of Anirudh’s genius since the debutant composed the song. The music composer was given his first break by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, his cousin and Dhanush’s ex-wife, in her directorial debut film, 3. Anirudh had reportedly composed the song with mostly nonsensical lyrics in just ten minutes. Talking about the song, director, Aishwarya said to Rednool:
“I was trying to tell a different story, but the song swallowed and overshadowed the film. It was very difficult for me. It was a serious film. Not many spoke about the film when it was released.”

After making a sensational start with his debut, Anirudh went on to work on huge projects. Many of his compositions were used as background scores to mark the entry of main leads in the films. Whether his song, Vaathi Coming in Vijay’s Master or the theme song for the Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram, many of these films became superhits due to the electric background music of Anirudh.

The 2023 film, Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, was directed by Atlee Kumar. The director had approached A.R. Rahman to compose songs for the Hindi film, but the music composer had denied the offer. Anirudh Ravichander was then roped in as the music composer, and a grand announcement was made with a teaser which featured the score composed by Anirudh.
