Surjasikha Das is set to share the screen with Kajol in the upcoming film Maa, marking a significant milestone in her career. The project, backed by Ajay Devgn Films, brings Surjasikha full circle—from a struggling newcomer in Mumbai to starring in a film associated with the very actor she once nervously approached for a photo.

Reflecting on her early days, Surjasikha recounted a vivid memory of her first encounter with Ajay Devgn. “Back in my initial days in Mumbai, when I had just started navigating the city alone and figuring out where casting actually happened, I would often look up production houses on Google and visit them in person,” she said.

One such day, in her search for Devgn’s production house, she ended up near Chandan Cinema and unexpectedly saw the actor entering a dubbing studio. “I saw Ajay Devgn himself entering a dubbing studio nearby. I was a mix of excited and nervous. Since I hadn’t found the production office, I thought—at the very least—I should try to get a picture. But I hesitated… stood there for almost half an hour, unsure. Finally, when he came out, I gathered the courage to quietly approach him and ask for a photo. He responded with a warm ‘Jee aiye,’ something I’ll never forget.”

Years later, now cast in a film connected to Devgn, she had the chance to show him that old photo on set. “He smiled. It’s surreal how life comes full circle. Getting the opportunity to work with him so early in my career truly feels like a blessing. He’s been incredibly kind and encouraging on set. On my first day, he even appreciated my work—which meant the world to me. It was genuinely motivating and something I’ll always carry with me,” she said.

With Maa, Surjasikha Das not only steps into a high-profile project alongside Kajol but also fulfils a quiet dream nurtured during her formative years in the industry.
