IIT Kharagpur has achieved a major milestone in the 2024-25 placement season, receiving over 1,800 job offers, including 409 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) and 25 international offers. This comes despite a globally challenging job market, reaffirming the institute’s strong industry reputation.

The season began on a high note, with more than 800 offers made in just the first two days.

By Day 3, the total had crossed 1,000, indicating strong demand for the institute’s graduates across various sectors. Notably, nine students received salary packages exceeding 1 crore, with the highest touching 2.14 crore per annum.

These top-tier offers came from major multinational firms, reflecting strong employer confidence in the institute’s training, innovation culture, and student quality.

Professor Rajib Maity, Chairperson of the Career Development Centre, stated, “The results reflect our teamwork and targeted support to help students succeed. Our focus on readiness and resilience is helping graduates secure meaningful roles.”

More than 400 companies have participated in the ongoing placement drive so far, recruiting students in software, analytics, finance, consulting, core engineering, and other sectors.

The institute thanked all recruiters for their continued trust and expressed interest in deeper future collaboration.

Professor Amit Patra, Director of IIT Kharagpur, called the record-breaking number of offers a defining moment. “As technology evolves, we are updating our curriculum to stay ahead. Our interdisciplinary focus, strong alumni network, and real-world training help students become industry-ready leaders,” he said.

IIT Kharagpur, known for academic excellence, continues to be a top choice for recruiters and students.

Its placement success highlights not only strong institutional leadership but also the evolving relevance of its programmes in a changing job market.
