Jamie Foxx didnât hold back in his BET Awards 2025 acceptance speech Monday.
The actor broke down while telling awards show attendees about the stroke he suffered in April 2023.
The Oscar winner, 57, noted that the âIn Memoriamâ segment made him emotional because âthat could have been [him].â
Foxx noted, âI donât know why I went through what I went through, but I know that my second chance, Iâm not going to turn it down.â
The rapper, who wiped away tears while accepting an Ultimate Icon Award, sweetly shouted out his family members.
âMy beautiful daughter, Corinne, I cannot say enough about you,â Foxx gushed of the 31-year-old. âYouâve always taken a backseat to everything. But when you needed to drive it, you drove. And you made sure I was here.â
As for 16-year-old Anelise, who also cried during the speech, the âJust Mercyâ star said, âMy baby with the big hair. She hides under that hair because sheâs got something special. Youâre so beautiful, man.â
He praised the teenager for playing him the guitar when she overheard doctors say his âvitals [were] badâ and they were âgoing to lose him.â
Foxx joked, âAnd at a certain point, Iâm going to stop crying, but Iâm not going to stop yet.â
The Golden Globe winnerâs candid speech comes six months after he described his health scare in a Netflix special.
The comedian told âJamie Foxx: What Had Happened Wasâ viewers that he had âa brain bleed that led to a strokeâ and was âliterally within an inch of his life.â
He added that waking up in a wheelchair after nearly three weeks felt âlike a fâking prank.â
When Foxx was hospitalized, notably, his family did not divulge details about his health scare, calling it a âmedical complication.â
The Grammy winner was filming âBack in Actionâ with Cameron Diaz at the time â and he was all smiles at the movieâs premiere in January.
That same month, news broke that he and Alyce Huckstep had called it quits after three years together.
