A 7-year-old boy on Monday found a dead lizard in his ice cream purchased from a local street vendor in Punjab’s Ludhiana. The boy had bought two Choco Bar kulfis for Rs 20 from a cart operating under the name “Milk Bell”.

While eating, he spotted the lizard in the cup and immediately informed his grandmother. The incident happened in the Sundar Nagar area in Ludhiana.

Following the discovery, concerned locals confronted the vendor. Despite being caught and asked to stop, the vendor defended himself, claiming the ice cream was factory-packed and not prepared by him.

He continued selling ice cream in the area, which further angered residents. He was again stopped by locals after refusing to comply with the grandmother’s plea to halt sales.

To prevent any deterioration in the child’s condition, he was rushed to a private hospital. As of now, his health is reported to be stable.

Health officials have also taken note of the incident. The District Health Officer (DHO) confirmed that samples of the ice cream will be collected for testing on June 10 to determine the source of contamination.
