The Meghalaya husband-murder case has left the entire nation in shock. It was a businessman, Raja Raghuvanshi, who was killed after being missing with his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon. After a few days, Raja’s dead body was discovered, and later, three hitmen were arrested in this case. Sonam was also detained by the police, and it was claimed that she had surrendered to being involved in the plot of murdering her husband. As per the recent buzz, she claimed her innocence. Now, Sonam’s MIL had some revelations about her as she mourned her son’s demise.
Raja Raghuvanshi’s mom breaks down while talking about her son’s demise, says she felt DIL’s behaviour strange
As per a report by ANI, Raja Raghuvanshi’s mother, who is devastated by her son’s demise, now claimed to have understanding that there was a huge conspiracy behind her son’s demise. She, during the interactions, shared that it was Sonam herself who had booked the tickets for their honeymoon and had no plans to return. To mention, Raja’s brother also claimed that the couple had no such return tickets of their own, and they first decided to go to Kamakhya temple, and later, informed them about the Meghalaya trip. Raja’s mother further claimed that she used to feel very strange from the beginning, and sensed the danger. She further shared that she had asked her son why he was wearing a chain, and he mentioned that it was Sonam’s wish. In Raja’s mom’s words:
“Sonam booked the tickets for the trip, and she may have extended the trip to Shillong, as my son did not know about the region. Her mother told that they visited (Shillong) last year. I asked Raja why he wears the chain, he said Sonam asked him so. I sensed danger. There might be some planning… Her behaviour was good; I cannot believe how she did something like this.”

Going further in the interview, Raja Raghuvanshi’s mom said that Sonam always behaved well with her, and used to hug her while addressing her as ‘mummy’. When asked about Sonam’s alleged beau, Raj Kushwaha, her MIL stated that she has no idea about the same, but her parents might have since their kids never hid anything from them. She mentioned:
“Sonam had good behaviour; she used to hug me. I did not know about Raj Kushwaha, Sonam’s parents may know about him. Our children never hide anything from their parents and can never do wrong to anyone.”
Sonam Raghuvanshi’s alleged affair, and reaction to this entire case
On the morning of June 9, 2025, when police confirmed that the three hitmen who killed Raja Raghuvanshi were taken under custody. Police also revealed that Raja’s wife, Sonam, was also found in a dhaba of Ghazipur, and she later surrendered to have been involved in plotting her husband’s demise. Following this, Raja’s brother, Vipin made some shocking allegations and stated that there might be a love triangle, as Sonam used to talk to one of her colleagues, Raj, on the phone, apparently hinting at their affair. To note, Raj Kushwaha was one of the three who were taken under judicial custody, who, even during the investigation, claimed that Sonam hired them to commit the crime.
Talking about Sonam’s reaction, a recent report revealed that after she was arrested, she revealed that she was abducted and then abandoned in Ghazipur, from where she was found in an unconscious state. She also claimed that she was not the accused but rather the victim.
