A couple from Indore, Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam Raghuvanshi, were visiting Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 16, 2025. However, what was supposed to be the happiest time of their lives, turned into a nightmare for Raja and his family. The day of May 23, 2025, brought clouds of grief over the family as Sonam, along with the help of three assailants, murdered her own husband.

After Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam Raghuvanshi went missing on May 23, 2025, a missing report was filed in the local police station. The police launched a thorough investigation, after which the husband’s body was found in far deep inside a steep valley in Meghalaya’s Weisawdong Waterfall’s parking area. Now, Raja’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, has come forward and shared the details of Sonam’s relationship with her husband and the family.
According to Raja Raghuvanshi’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, the former and Sonam’s marriage was arranged by their families, and both were very happy. Sonam, who has now confessed to the murder of her husband, Raja, shared a good relationship with her in-laws as well. Vipin revealed that Sonam used to go shopping with his mother, and there had never been any quarrel between her and the rest of the family. However, while going on their honeymoon to Meghalaya, Sonam and Raja did not book any return tickets, which the family was not aware of initially. Vipin also revealed that the family members had no idea about the couple going to Meghalaya, so they set out of the home and said that they were going to offer prayers in Kamakhya temple. They were later informed about Raja’s change in plans.

Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raja Raghuvanshi have grabbed the attention of the media. The netizens were left shocked by what happened, and the news has been dominating all headlines with its timeline. While there are no updates on how a loving daughter-in-law turned into a master murderer and killed her own husband on her honeymoon, the police have revealed that she was not alone. DGP, Idashisha Nongrang, confirmed that after a thorough canvassing of the accused paths and overnight raids, the police successfully detained those behind the horrifying incident.
While two of these assailants were found in Indore, another one was detained in UP. According to the officials, during investigations, the assailants have revealed that they were hired by Raja’s wife, Sonam, to murder him. On the other hand, Sonam was found in an unconscious state in a local dhaba in Ghazipur on June 7, 2025. Later, she was taken to the nearby hospital for further treatment, wherein she confessed before the police about plotting her husband’s murder. She was later taken into custody.
Raja went missing on May 23, 2025. However, he was last spotted alive on May 22, 2025, with his wife, Sonam, in Nongirat. The couple looked like any normal couple and were spotted as they checked out from Balaji Homestay. The next day, there had been no traces of Raja or Sonam. Following the same, an investigation began, and a scooter that they had rented was found abandoned at Sohrarim, leading the homestay owner to lodge a missing complaint.
