The National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has released a revised schedule for NEET PG 2025. The examination will now be held in a single shift from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm on August 3, 2025.
To help manage logistics for the single-shift exam, NBEMS has increased the number of exam centres and cities. Candidates will be allowed to resubmit their preferred choice of exam city on the official website — natboard.edu.in — from 3 pm on June 13 to June 17.
City selection will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with the list of available cities visible in the application form.
NBEMS has stated that while it will try to allot a testing centre within the candidate’s state of correspondence, it cannot guarantee it due to logistical and administrative limitations.
If no seat is available in a preferred state or Union Territory, candidates may be assigned a centre elsewhere in India. NBEMS also reserves the right to add or remove cities based on operational needs.
In 2024, NEET PG was conducted in two shifts for the first time, on August 11. Some aspirants had raised concerns about fairness, citing the possibility of variations in question paper difficulty across different shifts.
They had also called for greater transparency in the result process, including the release of answer keys, raw and normalised scores, and response sheets.
Petitioners had requested the Court to ensure such transparency going forward and had even demanded the suspension of counselling until these issues were addressed.
With NEET PG 2025 returning to a single shift format, many students hope it will lead to a more even playing field and fewer post-exam complications. NBEMS has assured that efforts will be made to maintain fairness and clarity throughout the process.
