TV actor Dipika Kakar celebrated Eid al-Adha 2025 with husband Shoaib Ibrahim in the hospital as she is recovering from a major surgery for Stage 2 liver cancer. The actor recently underwent a 14-hour operation and is now out of the ICU, showing signs of improvement.
Shoaib shared a photo on his Instagram Story, showing the couple holding Eidi envelopes sent by his father. Dipika was seen lying in a hospital bed, wearing a “Fall Risk” wristband.
“Dipi aur mere liye papa ki taraf se eidi aye (Papa sent eidi for both Dipi and me),(sic)” Shoaib captioned the photo, along with a heart emoji and “Eid Mubarak” wishes to fans.
Shoaib, in his vlog, shared that she was taken into the OT at 8:30 AM and came out only by 11:30 PM on Tuesday, June 3. The long wait caused panic among family members, especially around 6–7 PM when there were no updates. “Thankfully, the doctor assured me that if they don’t come out with updates, it means the surgery is going well,” Shoaib recalled.
The doctors removed a portion of Dipika’s liver where the tumour was located, along with her gallbladder, which had a stone.
After spending three days in the ICU, Dipika was shifted to a hospital room on the eve of Eid. “I am really grateful that she is out of the ICU and with us now,” Shoaib said. He added that she would remain in the hospital for 3 to 5 more days due to the complexity of the surgery.
The couple felt some relief when Dipika’s latest blood test reports returned normal. They are now awaiting the biopsy report on the removed tumour.
Shoaib also reassured fans that the liver has the natural ability to regenerate, and doctors are confident about her recovery, though it will take time and careful monitoring.
