Sonali Bendre is one of the most popular actors from the 90s Bollywood. Just like her professional side, Sonali has been in the spotlight for her alleged linkups. Now, in a recent interview, the actress has finally opened up about her linkup buzz with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief, Raj Thackeray. Sonali also addressed the buzz regarding Raj having a crush on the former years back.

An old video of the duo, Sonali and Raj, has been a topic of discussion for some time now. Since the video came out in public, there were speculations that MNS chief, Raj Thackeray was head over heels for Sonali Bendre. Now, in a recent interview with ANI, Sonali addressed her linkup buzz with Raj and also shared her views on the buzz surrounding Raj having a crush on her. For the unversed, Sonali was recently spotted with Raj Thackeray, while the duo attended an event in Maharashtra. Sharing her doubts regarding the buzz surrounding Raj having a crush on the former, Sonali said:
“Did he?… I doubt it. I was talking to my sister who was right there.”

In the same interview, Sonali Bendre criticises the gossip surrounding her and Raj Thackeray. The actress also condemned the linkup buzz surrounding her and Raj as their families share a connection. Sonali also explained the association between the two families. In her words:
“I don’t know. I mean, a lot of people… I think it’s just not in very good taste when people talk about it like that. First of all, I mean, there are families involved and people involved in all of that. Other than the fact that my brother-in-law and my sister… my brother-in-law who’s a cricketer and hence used to play cricket with Raj’s cousin… Sister’s husband and they always played together. Secondly, my sister’s mother-in-law was the head of the department that taught us English literature in the (Ramnarain) Ruia College, which I’m from.”
Further in the interview, Sonali revealed how her family and Raj’s family share a deep family connection. The actress recalled how Raj Thackeray’s wife, Sharmila Thackeray’s mom, paid a visit to the hospital, when the former was a newborn. Sonali shared that Sharmila’s mother and her maasi were best friends. In her words:
“So they all knew each other. For me, the connection was that Sharmila, Raj’s wife, her mother, and my maasi [maternal aunt] were best friends. Her mother has held me for 10 days because you know how, oh, her, my mother’s younger sister, Maasi. So when she delivered Raj, they all came laughing. Oh, her elder sister’s baby. Let’s go and see the baby. They’ve come to the hospital and seen me…So literally, that’s the kind of connection.”
Sonali Bendre shares that she doesn’t know Raj Thackeray and his family personally
After revealing the close connection between her family and Raj’s family, Sonali clarified the fact that although there are some ties between the families, she doesn’t know Raj and his family personally. The actress said that she visits Maharashtra occasionally, once in two years, during the summer holidays. The actress also shared her views on politics when asked about joining the same. Sonali said that it is unfortunate, but she is not politically correct.
