Seema Kapoor, one of the famous faces of the entertainment world, began her career with the serial, Kismat. She has worked in numerous theatres, films and television shows, including Kuruksetra, Hum Sat Sath Hain, Hasratein, Bidaai, Ek Hazaron Main Meri Behna Hai and Naagin. Seema has been a receiver of some prestigious awards and accolades. Born and brought up in Kolkata, Seema’s roles as antagonist became a fan favourite over the years. Well, she, a few days ago, walked down the memory lane and recalled her tough childhood, which was caused by her mom’s torture.
Television actress, Seema Kapoor recalled how her biological mom used to torture her
Seema Kapoor recently sat for an interview with Bollywood Thikana, wherein she revealed that not only step-mothers, but also biological mothers can often cross the limits of torturing the little kids. She further shared that she had to go through this ordeal when her biological mom tortured her to the point that she was even terrified of the term ‘mother’.
Seema mentioned that she was scared of her mother and she had to face excessive torture. Recalling an incident, Seema revealed that once she and her siblings returned from school, the door of their home was locked. Later, Seema got to know that her mom was out for some charity work, but she was traumatised so much that even when the neighbours offered her water, she couldn’t take it. Seema could be quoted as saying:
“Her children would stand on the stairs for hours. Neighbours would take pity on us and invite us to their homes, saying, ‘Come in, have some water,’ but we were so scared of our mother that we wouldn’t even move from the stairs. We would just stand there. Mother was very strict and beat us excessively.”

Going forward in the interview, Seema Kapoor revealed that she and her siblings used to be beaten by their mom excessively, and it was way too much that can even be tagged as ‘child abuse’. Seema was then asked if she had tried to reveal this to any of her friends or close ones. To this, she revealed that it happened many times that her mom used to hit her while she was out for school, and blood would come out, leading her friends to witness the same, and question her if her mom is actually her stepmom. In Seema Kapoor’s words:
“My mother tortured us far more than you can imagine. It could also be called child abuse; it happened to me to that extent. I was so scared of the word ‘mother’ that I would only go to my friends’ houses when their fathers were there, not when their mothers were present. Seeing my condition, my friends often used to ask if she was my stepmother.”
Seema Kapoor has earlier talked about her strained relationship with her mom
Earlier, in an interview with Sidharth Kannan, Seema Kapoor talked about her strained relationship with her mom, who had arrogance in her, for coming from a rich family, as claimed by the actress. The actress revealed that she was beaten to the very end by her mom during her childhood. Seema recalled witnessing her parents’ split when she was only 6 years old. The actress then shared that after her parents’ split, she decided to stay back with her mom, but her continuous bad behaviour led her to call her dad and stay with him afterwards.
Seema also shared that her childhood issues actually made her stay away from any kind of attachment. She also revealed falling in love with an already-married man, who falsely claimed to have divorced his first wife. However, later, when the actress got to know the truth, her world turned upside down.
