Kiara Advani’s custom gown is an ode to a mother’s bond with her child
Kiara Advani made her MET Gala debut and set the red carpet ablaze. The actress nailed the theme: Tailored for You, in the best way possible and honoured the transformation she is currently going through. For the first time since Kiara and Sidharth announced their pregnancy, the actress has flaunted her baby bump in the most beautiful way possible. Dressed by none other than the phenomenal designer, Gaurav Gupta, Kiara looked like a dream in her black and golden custom ensemble.
For the evening, Kiara wore a gorgeous off-shoulder black gown. The garment hugged her body like a glove and featured a golden breastplate shaped like a heart, and another small heart was featured on her bump and connected with a golden chain. The designer, Gaurav Gupta, also took to his Instagram handle and elaborated on the look, which he called the ‘Bravehearts’. Gaurav revealed that the custom gown was built on the spirit of those who challenged the norms and reshaped the culture. Gaurav was quoted as saying:
“Kiara Advani (@kiaraaliaadvani) in custom Gaurav Gupta Couture titled ‘Bravehearts’ at her debut Met Gala. A tribute to defiance, legacy, and new beginnings. Bravehearts is built on the spirit of the Black Dandy — those who challenged norms and reshaped culture with grace, strength, and individuality.”
However, in the case of Kiara Advani, this took a completely different and deeper meaning. As Kiara was expecting her first child, it also reimagined the mother and child bond, represented by the golden breastplate, which was further connected by an abstract umbilical cord. Her attire also featured a white cape, which paid homage to Andre Leon Talley’s look from the MET Gala 2010. The designer, Gaurav Gupta, penned:
“On the pregnant Kiara Advani, the look takes on deeper meaning; representing how identity is inherited and reimagined through generations. At its core, a gold-sculpted breastplate with two hearts – mother and child, connected by an abstract umbilical cord. She is enveloped in a dramatic white cape echoing Andre Leon Talley’s 2010 Met Gala look, the piece is both armour and offering.”
