Al-Hilal have announced the appointment of Simone Inzaghi as their new coach after his exit from Inter Milan. Inzaghi left his job at Inter following their loss to PSG in the final of the UEFA Champions League and missing out on the Serie A title to Napoli last season.

The Italian has joined on a two-year contract with the 19-time Saudi Pro League champions ahead of the start of the FIFA Club World Cup on June 15. It is reported that Inzaghi will earn up to 30 million euros per season. Inzaghi won six trophies during his time with Inter and helped them reach the final of the Champions League twice. Al-Hilal hailed Inzaghi as the ‘Italian Genius’ on social media in their announcement.

Inzaghi left Inter after what seemed like a great season ended with them going trophyless. The Nerazzurri were on course to win a treble before being knocked out of the Coppa Italia by arch-rivals AC Milan and being edged out of the title by Napoli.

Inzaghi’s first job in charge of Al-Hilal will be the clash against Real Madrid on June 18.

Inzaghi commented about his move to Al-Hilal and expressed his happiness in trying a new experience. The Italian said that his desire was always to go abroad and coach and Al-Hilal is a great opportunity for him.

“First of all, I am very happy to try this new experience. My desire had always been to go abroad and coach as well as in Italy and for me, Al-Hilal is a great opportunity in my career,” said Inzaghi.

The Italian said that his goals with Al-Hilal are to win titles, present entertaining football and implement his style based on speed, intensityy and determination.
