NEW DELHI: A man was arrested after stabbing six individuals, including four young girls at a movie theater, in separate incidents that may be linked, according to Massachusetts police. The suspect entered the AMC Braintree 10 theater south of Boston around 6 pm on Saturday without paying for a ticket, officials said.
The man attacked the girls, aged 9 to 17 inside the theater, “without saying anything and without any warning” before fleeing the scene, the Braintree Police Department said.The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Police said they were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle and license plate from video footage and shared the information with other law enforcement agencies.
Later, a vehicle matching the description was spotted at a McDonald’s restaurant in Plymouth, approximately 27 miles (43 kilometers) south of Braintree, where two additional victims, a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, were found stabbed at the location and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
State police located the suspect’s vehicle in Sandwich, another 20 miles south of Plymouth, and attempted to stop it, the driver refused to pull over and eventually crashed.
He was taken into custody shortly after the crash and taken to a hospital for treatment. The suspect’s identity has not been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
