Imran Khan and Avantika Malik’s love story was the most talked about in Bollywood. Mostly because Imran never shied away from expressing that he was dating a gorgeous girl when he made his debut with Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na. While it broke many of his female fans’ hearts, they all loved Imran and Avantika’s jodi. However, they parted ways in 2019, which left many in shock, after which Imran left the acting world. Now, for the first time, Avantika Malik talked about her struggle, facing clinical depression and struggling to save her marriage.

Recently, in an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, Avantika Malik shared that she dated Imran for nine years and then was married to him for nine years. Avantika revealed that the divorce was like death. She called it gut-wrenching as a person loses family, the person you used to trust the most, and the separating part is tough. Avantika almost broke down recalling her divorce, and said:
“I was so afraid that I would not be able to look after myself. Being alone felt like death. I was so scared, I thought I won’t be able to do anything on my own. I thought I would die, and I have been through clinical depression, where I wanted to die, so, I didn’t think I would be sitting here I could have never imagined.”

Further, in the interview, Avantika revealed that she finds walking away from people the hardest. For the longest time, she wasn’t able to believe that her separation actually happened. Avanitka added that she did her best to save her marriage because her parents’ marriage fell apart. She had the pressure of making things work. Talking about it, Avantika said:
“I would have found it very difficult to walk away and to say this is it. It is mostly because of the kind of human being I am. I am extremely emotional. Another reason is that because my parents marriage didn’t work, I thought I always had this pressure to make mine work. I was too adamant that what was my reality as a child cannot be my reality as an adult. That fear was too deep to walk away.”

Divorce is not at all easy for both the people involved and even the kids. Just like Avantika, Imran also had the roughest phase. In fact, he had lost a lot of weight, and his photos went viral on the internet, leaving fans concerned. During an interview with Humans Of Bombay, Imran revealed that there were days when he would not be able to get out of bed. In 2019, he was at his weakest emotionally and physically.
Imran further described that even brushing his teeth and taking a shower was a monumental task for him. There were days when he would not even get out of bed and would stay in pyjamas with a locked door.
