The CW has renewed its drama series All American for an eighth, and final, season. The pickup will make the series one of the longer-running shows in the network’s history — and also close the door on The CW’s previous era in terms of scripted programming.
Season eight of All American will run for 13 episodes in the 2025-26 season. The series from Warner Bros. TV, Berlanti Productions and shworunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll will close its run with 132 episodes; its eight seasons will rank among the five longest-running scripted series in the network’s history (not counting seasons of UPN or The WB shows that aired prior to those networks merging to form The CW).
“All American is one of the greatest CW shows of all time and we are honored to bring it back for one final season to give fans a chance to say a meaningful goodbye to these inspiring characters and this incredible world,” said Brad Schwartz, president of The CW. “The series took bold new steps in season seven, adding exciting new characters to the ones we already love, and viewers truly embraced it all. All American is the last remaining scripted series on The CW that premiered when the network was jointly owned by Warner Bros. and CBS. The two companies sold a majority stake in the network to local-station powerhouse Nexstar in 2022; the company’s mandate since the sale has been to make the network profitable, and the mix of programming has tilted heavily toward unscripted shows, sports and, on the scripted side, co-productions a la Sullivan’s Crossing (with Canada’s CTV) and Wild Cards (with the CBC in Canada) and acquired shows.
A few unscripted shows from the WB/CBS era, including Penn & Teller: Fool Us and Masters of Illusion, remain on The CW.
