A 12-year-old boy died of a gunshot wound in Lucknow, with his family alleging that he was killed and attempts were being made to cover up the actual incident.
The child, named Unaiz, reportedly got hold of a pistol kept inside a parked car at a venue where he was attending a birthday party. He purportedly started playing with the firearm, before it suddenly discharged a bullet.
The gunshot killed Unaiz on the spot. His father, however, has disputed the account, saying his son was lured out of their house by his friends and killed later.
He was taken from home by his friends on the pretext of attending a birthday party, according to Unaiz’s father, Zamir Khan.
Later, the family was informed that Unaiz had been involved in a road accident. Upon reaching the hospital, they were told that the child had died.
The police have initiated an investigation into the case. According to officials, all possible angles are being probed.
