    Cloudflare prepared to counter whatever may come next from Iran, CEO Matthew Prince says


    As the US doubles down on Operation Epic Fury in Iran, fears have grown over potential cyberattacks on American websites. Cloudflare co-founder and CEO Matthew Prince has stated that the cloud infrastructure firm is prepared to face any attacks from the Iranian regime.

    On X, Prince wrote on X, addressing concerns over potential cyber threats from Iran. He assured Cloudflare users that any attack would not disrupt services. He wrote, “Whatever may come next from Iran, @Cloudflare is well aware of their techniques, not worried, and fully prepared to defend our customers.”

    Cloudflare is one of the largest service providers online. It bridges the gap between a visitor and the website host. In 2024, Cloudflare stated that 20 per cent of the web runs through its network.

    Iran begins cyberattacks

    Prince’s comments come at a time when reports indicate that Iran is preparing for cyberattacks. Iranian hacker groups have also said to have caused disruption at gas stations in Jordan. The hackers are reportedly also targeting US and Israeli military providers.

    As per Reuters, Tehran is sending call-to-actions to pro-Iranian cyber personas that have previously carried out cyberattacks such as distributed denial-of-service attacks (DDoS) and hack-and-leak operations.

    Adam Meyers of CrowdStrike told Reuters that the company was already seeing , ” activity consistent with Iranian-aligned threat actors and hacktivist groups conducting reconnaissance and initiating DDoS attacks.”

    Cybersecurity firm Anomali reported that Iranian state-backed groups were already carrying out ‘wiper’ attacks erasing data on Israeli targets ahead of recent strikes.

    Iran’s religious app BadeSaba hacked

    During the joint offensive on Iran by the US and Israel, BadeSaba, a religious calendar-app was hacked, alongside multiple news websites. This attack was aimed to encouraging Iranian armed forces to give up arms with messages such as “It’s time for reckoning.”

    BadeSaba has over 5 million downloads, and is said to be used by supporters of the Iranian regime.
