‘CIA’ First Look: Colin & Bill Meet During Premiere ‘FBI’ Crossover With Jubal (VIDEO)

    What To Know

    • The CIA series premiere features a crossover with FBI, as Jeremy Sisto guest stars as Jubal Valentine.
    • TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek features Jubal as well as Tom Ellis and Nick Gehlfuss’ Colin and Bill meeting for the first time.
    • Showrunner Mike Weiss teases ongoing crossovers between the two shows.

Hmm, will this bode well for CIA Case Officer Colin Glass (Tom Ellis) and FBI Special Agent Bill Goodman’s (Nick Gehlfuss) partnership? The latter lies to the former — see how the stars do when it comes to fooling each other here — when the two first cross paths in the CIA series premiere, and TV Insider has an exclusive sneak peek. The scene also features the first FBI crossover, with Jeremy Sisto appearing as Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine alongside Bill.

In the premiere, airing Monday, February 23, the case involves a top-secret weapon stolen in broad daylight from a U.S. defense contractor. In our clip, Jubal and Bill speak to a development lead at Critical Devices after he found his entire team bleeding out of their ears. He just so happened to be out for a slice of pizza at the time. They work on sensitive government contracts worth billions, but he can’t share what was taken.

That’s when Bill spots Colin snooping around and questions who he is. Colin introduces himself as DoD and “not a guy you ask for” with “clearance so high, you need a ladder to reach it.” But when Bill returns to Jubal to ask about someone from the Department of Defense being at their crime scene, that’s when things get complicated. Watch the full video above to see more.

Jubal is going to be the one to recommend Bill to the Deputy Chief of Station Nikki Reynard (Necar Zadegan) when she comes looking for an FBI agent; the CIA’s fusion cell needs one to operate on U.S. soil. He “gives Bill a stamp of approval,” showrunner Mike Weiss told us as part of our in-depth digital cover story. “Nikki goes to Jubal and says, ‘Alright, this time, I want you to bring me your best, someone that Colin isn’t going to run circles around. And so Jubal is there to basically sell Nikki and CIA on Bill Goodman.’”

But this is just the first appearance from Sisto and other FBI characters on the new offshoot, promises Weiss. “He’s going to come back in future episodes here and there. Bill’s assignment is not as simple as it appears and Jubal knows a little bit more than Bill does about what he’s actually signing up to do, which I think is going to be really fun and delicious to watch play out,” he teases.

“We’re hoping to do as much crossover as possible between the two shows. We love the idea of an expanded Dick Wolf FBI New York Universe. Agent Goodman had been working out of 26 Fed for years when he was an FBI agent, so he knows everyone — Maggie [Missy Peregrym], OA [Zeeko Zaki], Isobel [Alana de la Garza],” Weiss explains. “These were his colleagues for years.”
