CBSE Class 10 mathematics exam today: What to carry and last minute tips guide here

The Central Board of Secondary Education board exam for mathematics is set for today. Students are advised to carry only the items which are allowed before leaving home.

The Central Board of Secondary Education issued an advisory to schools, parents and students reminding everyone to rely only on official communications and to avoid rumours.

    ENTRY, TIMINGS AND BASIC RULES

Students should note the reporting times carefully: doors typically open 45 minutes before the test and pupils must be seated well before the start time.

No candidate will be allowed entry after 10:00 am on the day of the exam.

Special provisions, including extra time, are in place for PwD candidates. These measures are intended to keep centres orderly and to prevent last-minute chaos.

WHAT TO CARRY TO THE EXAM HALL

Students should keep the following items ready the night before:

    • Printed admit card

    • Valid school identity card

    • Transparent pouch

    • Blue or royal blue pens (multiple)

    • Pencils, eraser and sharpener

    • Geometry box (compass, ruler, divider, protractor)

    • Transparent water bottle

    • Simple analogue watch (if permitted by school)

    • Sanitiser in a small transparent bottle

Keeping spares prevents borrowing during the exam and avoids unnecessary disturbance.

    WHAT NOT TO CARRY

The following items are normally prohibited inside the hall:

    • Mobile phones or smart watches

    • Calculators or electronic devices

    • Earphones or Bluetooth gadgets

    • Notes, papers or written chits

    • Programmable pens or digital stationery

    • Wallets, handbags or bulky pouches

Possession of restricted items can lead to disqualification even if unused.

LAST MINUTE TIPS FOR THE PAPER

    • Read the entire question paper calmly before starting

    • Attempt easier questions first to build confidence

    • Write stepwise solutions for full marks in mathematics

    • Recheck calculations in the last 15 minutes

    • Avoid overwriting; strike neatly if correcting

    • Keep rough work organised on the side

    • Manage time section-wise instead of question-wise

    • Do not panic if one question seems unfamiliar

A composed mind often performs better than hurried revision. Many toppers say accuracy matters more than attempting every question.

Follow the rules, carry only essentials and focus on clear, methodical answers, that is the surest route to a good exam day.
