A controversy has erupted in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after a group of young men sprinkled ‘gaumutra’ (cow urine) inside a temple, claiming they were ‘purifying’ the premises following the visit of state minister and Shiv Sena leader Abdul Sattar.
The incident took place at the Nageshwar temple in Rahimabad, where Sattar had offered prayers on the occasion of Maha Shivratri on Sunday.
A video of the men entering the temple and sprinkling cow urine has since gone viral on social media.
According to information available, the youths objected to Sattar’s visit, alleging that he never leaves his house without consuming non-vegetarian food.
Citing this, they claimed that an ‘impure’ person had entered the temple on an auspicious day and carried out what they described as a purification ritual.
There was no immediate response from the minister at the time of filing this story.
