A visit to Delhi’s Sunder Nursery turned distressing for a mother and her daughter after an alleged confrontation with park guards sparked outrage online. The incident came to light through an emotional Instagram video in which the mother detailed how her specially-abled child was reportedly prevented from using a swing inside the government-run park.
According to the mother, her daughter Inika, who has cerebral palsy, wanted to play on the swings during their outing. However, she claims a guard refused to allow it and made an insensitive remark: “Iska dimaag theek nahi hai” (She is not of sound mind).
The comment, she said, left her shocked and deeply hurt.
In the video, the mother recounts how other parents present at the park stepped in after witnessing the exchange. They questioned the guards and argued that no child should be denied access to public spaces because of a disability.

The atmosphere, however, allegedly escalated quickly. “As parents jab humne resist kiya, wo humpe gang up ho gaye aur humko park se nikalne ko bole” (When we, as parents, resisted, they ganged up against us and asked us to leave the park), she said.
The video captures the tense moments of the confrontation, with raised voices and visible distress. The mother further highlighted a broader issue, stating, “Delhi me 2.5 lakh bachhon ko disability hai” (There are 2.5 lakh children with disabilities in Delhi), underscoring the need for sensitivity and inclusive public spaces.
Ending her video with a direct appeal, she said, “I urge the Government so that no child is banned from the parks.” She also emphasised, “Inclusion is not optional.”
The clip has since circulated widely, prompting discussions about accessibility, awareness and the treatment of children with disabilities in public spaces. “Kicking a disabled child out of a playground is not a policy failure; it is a moral collapse, witnessed in public. Good luck to us fighting for animal rights in a society that treats its disabled children like this,” wrote an Instagram user.
“This is very wrong. You guys did a very brave thing,” commented another.
While authorities are yet to respond publicly, the incident has reignited calls for greater empathy and accountability in places meant for recreation and community.
