A junior resident doctor has been suspended by the SN Medical College administration after a video went viral showing him allegedly abusing and shouting at a canteen operator inside the premises of Mathuradas Mathur (MDM) Hospital, the largest hospital in western Rajasthan.
According to officials, the incident took place late Sunday night at the canteen located within the MDM Hospital campus. The viral video reportedly shows the doctor using abusive language and behaving aggressively with the canteen staff.
Taking swift action, the SN Medical College management suspended junior resident doctor Vaibhav Siyag and formed an enquiry committee to investigate the matter. The administration has also sought an explanation from the doctor.
Speaking on the issue, Dr BS Jodha, Principal of Dr SN Medical College, said that the conduct seen in the viral video was unacceptable and not in line with the standards expected from a medical professional.
Dr Jodha said that after the video surfaced, the college verified the incident and found that Vaibhav Siyag, who was working on a temporary contract as a junior resident doctor at the Kamla Nehru Chest Hospital under the medical college, was involved in the matter.
“The behaviour shown in the video is not acceptable by any doctor, especially from someone associated with our institution. Keeping this in mind, we have constituted an enquiry committee and suspended the doctor with immediate effect,” Dr Jodha said.
DISPUTE ALLEGEDLY STARTED OVER TEA QUALITY
Sources said the video is around two days old and was recorded at a canteen on the MDM Hospital campus. The dispute reportedly began after the doctor complained about the quality of tea, leading to an argument with the canteen operator.
In the footage, the doctor can be seen repeatedly shouting and allegedly hurling abuses at the canteen operator.
After the canteen incident, another video reportedly emerged in which the doctor is also seen speaking rudely about the police.
The enquiry committee has been asked to submit its report soon, and further action will be taken based on its findings.
