A 32-year-old man was taken into custody by a team of the Intelligence Bureau and the Crime Investigation Department in Rajasthan’s Deeg on charges of spying for Pakistan.

The accused, Qasim, was allegedly in contact with some people in Pakistan over the phone during India’s Operation Sindoor and had even visited the neighbouring country.

As per the information, Qasim’s phone can be put under forensic examination and questioned to find out whether he was involved in spying.

This comes after the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested a man from the Kutch border area suspected of spying for Pakistan. The accused, identified as Sahdev Singh Gohil, a health worker from Gujarat, was reportedly in contact with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and had been supplying sensitive information related to India.

According to officials, the man had shared details about certain sensitive locations in Gujarat. The ATS has brought the suspect to Ahmedabad for further questioning.

The ATS had received inputs suggesting Gohil was passing on details related to the Border Security Force and the Indian Air Force.

Notably, this comes after 11 people were arrested over three days on charges of spying for Pakistan in multiple states, as part of a nationwide crackdown on espionage activities following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists.

Amongst the most prominent arrests was that of Jyoti Malhotra, a travel vlogger from Haryana, who was taken into custody for allegedly leaking sensitive information to Pakistan. The other accused included students, a security guard, civilians and an app developer. All 11 arrests took place across three states – Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
