The sudden passing of actor Mukul Dev has left the film industry in shock, especially those who were working with him on his upcoming film Son of Sardaar 2. Among them is actor Vindu Dara Singh, who opened up about Mukul’s final days and their shared screen moments in the Ajay Devgn-led action-comedy sequel.

In a heartfelt conversation with ETimes, Vindu reflected on Mukul’s personal struggles and the tragic timing of his death just ahead of what would have been a major comeback. “He had become overweight and he battled loneliness. He has a daughter but she is also… she was not staying with him. He was making his comeback with Son of Sardsar but the sad part is he won’t be there to see it. It is very tragic news,” Vindu shared.
Praising Mukul’s performance in the film, Vindu added, “He has done such fantastic work in SOS 2. He was my Tony and I was his Tito. He had an amazing role and people are going to roll on the floor laughing after seeing his work in July when the film releases. But unfortunately, he will not be around to enjoy the success and see the love.”
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Vindu also posted a tribute that read, “Rest in peace my brother #MukulDev! The time spent with you will always be cherished and #SonOfSardaar2 will be your swansong where you will spread joy and happiness to the viewers and make them fall down laughing!”
Mukul Dev, whose career spanned across Hindi, Punjabi, and South Indian films, was known for his character versatility. Son of Sardaar 2, set to release in July 2025, was expected to mark a strong return for the actor. The film now becomes a posthumous farewell to his talent.
As colleagues and fans come to terms with his loss, Vindu Dara Singh’s tribute stands as a moving reminder of the camaraderie they shared — and the laughter Mukul was ready to bring to screens one last time.
