The 54-year-old, Mukul Dev, popularly known for his versatile acting, took his last breath on May 23, 2024. Making his debut with the television series, Mumkin back in 1996, Mukul transitioned into the silver screen the same year with the film, Dastak. In Dastak, the actor worked opposite Bollywood diva, Sushmita Sen. Not only Bollywood, Mukul also worked in Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Bengali cinema.

Who is Mukul Dev’s wife, Shilpa Dev?
When it comes to his personal life, Mukul Dev has been extremely private. However, we learned that Shilpa Dev is Mukul Dev’s ex-wife. As per an India Forum report, Shilpa left Mukul and moved out of his house with their daughter, Sia, who was 2 years old back then. According to sources, the actor has been living alone since then. If the report by India Forums is to be believed, the couple separated in 2004.
Earlier, India Forums contacted a resident of the same building where Mukul used to live regarding the buzz surrounding his separation. According to the resident, the reason behind Shilpa leaving Mukul is unknown, but the former never returned back to Mukul after she left for Delhi. The same media also contacted a close friend of Mukul who was quoted as saying:
“I think it all started with differences over trivial matters. You can’t blame either one; it takes two to make a marriage work. But after the breakdown of his marriage, Mukul has changed a lot. He has become quiet. As far as I know, he does go to Delhi to meet his daughter. I am not sure if he is contemplating a legal separation.”
Mukul and his elder brother were also once contacted regarding this. Both the brothers said that the matter is very personal and don’t want to comment on it. In fact, the question was a bit shocking to Mukul. He was quoted as saying:
“Who told you this? This is a very awkward question for me. I don’t talk about my family. This is a personal matter and I don’t want to comment.”
Mukul Dev and Shilpa Dev’s daughter, Sia is now a grown-up lady
Mukul and Shilpa welcomed their daughter, Sia on December 30, 2002. According to a 2022 post made by Mukul on his official IG handle, we learned that his daughter had turned 20 years old. So it’s quite prominent that Sia is a grown-up lady and will be 23 years old this year. Taking to his Instagram handle on December 30, 2022, Mukul wrote:
“Happy 20th to this lovely lady. Happy birthday Sia.”
Mukul Dev’s death
On May 23, 2024, Mukul Dev, a prominent actor, left for the heavenly abode at the mere age of 54. The untimely death of the actor is both shocking and saddening at the same time. As per multiple reports, Mukul was not doing well for the past few days and was hospitalised. Although the exact cause of death is still unknown, the late actor had been under medical care in the ICU for the last few days.
The heartbreaking news of Mukul’s sudden demise came out in public, when the actor’s co-star from Son of Sardaar, Vindu Dara Singh, took to his X handle (formerly Twitter) and wrote a heartfelt note confirming his death. Bollywood is grieving over the loss of the untimely death of Mukul. From Sushmita Sen to Sonu Sood and Manoj Bajpayee, many actors paid tribute to the versatile actor. Taking to his IG handle, Rahul Dev, the elder brother of Mukul, also confirmed the news of his brother’s death and mentioned in a note that the actor will be cremated today, on May 24, 2025, at 5 p.m.
