Actor Mukul Dev died on May 23 at the age of 54. The actor had been receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Tributes poured in from across the industry, with heartfelt messages from celebs like Manoj Bajpayee, Hansal Mehta, Sonu Sood, and others.
Manoj Bajpayee condoled the actor’s death on X and wrote, “It’s impossible to put into words what I’m feeling. Mukul was a brother in spirit, an artist whose warmth and passion were unmatched. Gone too soon, too young. Praying for strength and healing for his family and everyone grieving this loss. Miss you meri jaan until we meet again, Om Shanti (sic).”
Actor Deepshika Nagpal also expressed her disbelief, saying she couldn’t come to terms with the news of his passing.
Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh described Mukul as a “powerhouse performer and a lovely person,” extending his deepest condolences to Rahul Dev and the family. “Really upset with the sad news of dear Mukul leaving us so soon. A powerhouse performer and a lovely person. My deepest condolences to @RahulDevRising @mugdhagodse267 and the entire family. God be with you all during these tough times. Om Shanti (sic),” he wrote on X.
Sonu Sood also posted a touching tribute, “RIP Mukul bhai. You were a gem. Will always miss you. Stay strong @RahulDevRising bhaji (sic),” he wrote.
Renowned designer Ashley Rebello also acknowledged the loss in an Instagram story, stating: “Om Shanti, Actor Mukul Dev passes away (sic).”
Actor Hansal Mehta posted Mukul’s photo on Instagram and wrote, “Not done Mukul mere dost so many more stories, so much more laughter. See you on the other side, my dear friend (sic).”
Actor Tusshar Kapoor also paid tribute to the late actor on X.
Vindu Dara Singh, who worked with Mukul in ‘Son of Sardar’, confirmed the news to India Today. “After his parent’s death, Mukul was keeping to himself. He would even step out of the house or meet anyone. His health deteriorated in the last few days and he was in the hospital. My condolences to his brother and everyone who knew and loved him. He was an amazing person, and we will all miss him,” Singh said.
Mukul Dev, a beloved performer in Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu films, also left his mark on Indian television and music albums. His powerful portrayal in ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ earned him the prestigious 7th Amrish Puri Award for Excellence in Acting.
