What Goes Around Comes Around Auctions Vintage Birkin Bags by Hermès

Vintage retailer What Goes Around Comes Around has launched their 7 Days of Birkin auction to spread holiday cheer and raise funds for a good cause.

The auction, which started Tuesday night and runs through Dec. 8, will auction off a vintage Birkin bag by Hermès each night with bids opening at $1.

Last night, the auction — hosted by eBay — featured a Kiwi Birkin 30 from the famed “Candy” collection of 2011. During the 30-second auction, 206 bids were placed with the hammer falling at $9,600.

One hundred percent of the Birkin sales will go directly to God’s Love We Deliver, a New York City-based organization that makes and delivers medically tailored meals to those sick with a range of serious medical conditions.

Each auction runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. WGACA will auction off other vintage luxury items during the 90 minutes, but the Birkins are the main event.

Among the Birkin bags being auctioned is the Birkin 40 crafted in Classic H Orange Togo leather with gold hardware from 2011 on Dec. 3. The Birkin 35 crafted in Rouge Casaque Togo leather with Palladium hardware from 2004 will be auctioned Dec. 4.

On Dec. 5, the Birkin 30 in Classic H Orange leather with gold hardware from 2012 will be auctioned. On Dec. 6, it’s the Birkin 35 crafted in Etoupe Togo leather with Palladium hardware from 2012, and Dec. 7 is the Birkin 30 crafted in Tosca Togo leather with Palladium hardware from 2012.

On the final night, Dec. 8, the Limited Edition Birkin 35 Eclat crafted in Sanguine (exterior) Blanc (interior) Clemence leather with Palladium hardware from 2011 will be auctioned.

As reported by WWD this summer, after 10 minutes of frenzied bidding in Paris, Jane Birkin’s original Hermès Birkin sold for $10.1 million at Sotheby’s in Paris, shattering the previous record by nearly 20 times. It was sold to a private collector from Japan. Sotheby’s said the sale “establishes new benchmarks for the most valuable fashion item sold at auction in Europe, and the most valuable luxury item ever sold at Sotheby’s Paris.”
