‘RHOP’ alum Mia Thornton breaks silence after theft arrest: ‘Challenges don’t define me’

“Real Housewives of Potomac” alum Mia Thornton has broken her silence after her recent felony theft arrest as she celebrates her 41st birthday.

The reality TV star marked the occasion by sharing a series of photos to her Instagram Tuesday, telling her followers that “challenges don’t define me” as she reflected on her goals for her next year of life.

“Composure over chaos. Grace over noise. This birthday, I’m choosing alignment, elevation, and elegance — always,” she captioned a black-and-white photo of herself sitting atop a piano.

“This past week reminded me of the importance of staying grounded, especially when life feels loud. I’m stepping into another year with clarity, accountability, and gratitude. Challenges don’t define me — how I rebuild does.”

She followed up the post with an additional photo from her shoot.

“Refined. Unmoved. Unshakeable. I don’t break — I become better. Happy Birthday to me,” she wrote.

“In the midst of unexpected moments, I’m remembering who I am: a mother, a creator, a woman evolving in real time. I’m choosing peace, accountability, and personal growth. Thank you to those who continue to support my journey.”

Thornton made headlines last Wednesday after she was arrested in Georgia on felony theft charges for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of furniture from a luxury condo she was renting.

Police at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport reportedly busted the Bravolebrity after they were called to the Customs and Border Protection office where they were informed of a wanted person, according to CBS News. She was later booked into the Fulton County Jail.

A police report obtained by the outlet showed Thornton is accused of taking several furniture items and the television from the condo she was renting in the area. The condo manager estimated the total cost of the stolen items to be around $11,000.

The manager also alleged that Thornton suddenly “moved out of the unit in the middle of the night” without notice on Oct. 28.

It was later revealed in court docs that Thornton and her ex-boyfriend/roommate Jared McGriff were sued for eviction on Sept. 11 by Company Encore Management, which owns the luxury condo that they were renting.

The documents state that the pair rented a property and “fail[ed] to pay rent” on the unit located in Atlanta.

The management company asked that the duo be evicted and pay the past due rent of $5,100 for September, plus $6,085 per month up until the date of judgment.
