For Aanand L Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein, Kriti Sanon has transformed into Mukti, a character that has already captured audience attention through the trailer and promotional material. Kriti Sanon opens up about playing Mukti in Tere Ishk Mein: “I love love stories… it has always been on my wish list”
Speaking about how much Mukti matters to her, Kriti said, “See, this journey actually started many years ago. I had met Anand sir several times and kept telling him, ‘Sir, I want to do a love story directed by you.’ It has always been on my wish list because I love love stories. I don’t know why there is less love in the world, but love stories started becoming rare. My favorite genre has always been layered, soulful, and complicated—like real life, with love, pain, and fire. And finally, one day, that opportunity came. That’s when I got Mukti.”
Speaking about her process, Kriti added, “I am usually very prepared as an actor—the front bencher who does her homework and goes into a role fully prepared. But for Mukti, I decided to surrender to Anand sir’s vision. I didn’t over-prepare. I went into shooting as a blank slate and discovered Mukti on set with him. It was a completely new experience for me. Mukti evolves so much in the story; the character at the beginning and the end almost feels like two different people. Exploring these layers and depth is a dream for any actor, and I hope audiences love her as much as I do.”
Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon and directed by Anand L Rai, is set to release on November 28, 2025. The film promises a soulful, layered, and passionate love story, bringing together the powerhouse trio of Kriti, Rai and Dhanush.
