Aftab Shivdasani, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming comedy Mastiii 4, has opened up about long-standing rumours that once painted him as someone with an “attitude problem” and even accused him of drug abuse. In a recent interview with Zoom, the actor addressed these claims with remarkable candour, revealing why he chose not to react or issue public clarifications during those difficult years.

“That was the funniest rumour I heard about myself,” Aftab said, recalling the allegations that circulated widely during the peak of his career. The actor shared that from a very young age, he adopted a philosophy that helped him stay grounded amid gossip and backlash. “See, I learned something very early in life. The truth doesn’t make noise. The truth is always silent. And the truth doesn’t need to prove itself. And just keeping that theory in mind, I would not justify anything.”
Aftab added that he never felt the need to issue statements disproving the rumour mill. “I never went on record to say anything about myself. And for me, it’s just like I take it in through here, take it out through here. Because why would I lose my sleep on something that’s not true? I know what my truth is. The people who matter know what my truth is. Whether I do it or not, if people want to believe that I’ve done it, they will believe I’ve done it. Regardless of me shouting from the rooftop and saying, ‘Bhaiya, maine nahi kiya’.”
Reflecting on his journey, he also spoke about the darker side of the film industry. “Because this industry is very unforgiving. That’s one. Second of all, I had loads of enemies. I would have loads of people talking badly about me. And thankfully, I think I’ve garnered a reputation where people may not like me, but they don’t hate me. Because they don’t know me enough. That’s something that I’ve consciously maintained,” he shared.
Aftab’s candid reflections come at a time when he is returning to one of Bollywood’s most popular adult-comedy franchises. Mastiii 4 reunites him with co-stars Vivek Oberoi and Riteish Deshmukh, who reprise their beloved roles as Meet, Prem, and Amar. The film follows three unhappy husbands who decide to escape their monotonous marriages in search of thrill and liberation, only to face unexpected consequences. The cast also includes Elnaaz Norouzi, Shreya Sharma, Ruhi Singh, Nargis Fakhri, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shaad Randhawa, and Nishant Malkani.
