The 2025 Cannes Film Festival has been nothing short of a talent parade, and arguably, nobody has us more starstruck than June Squibb. The 95-year-old actor touched down in the South of France for the premiere of her film Eleanor the Great, which also marks Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut.

Squibb, with her Squibb Squad in tow, had a full slate of events in Cannes, from the photo call to the premiere—and all the celebrations in between. But for the main event, she turned to her favorite designer, Johnny Was, who created a black floor-length dress with sheer sleeves, covered in purple, pink, and blue flowers. “I am wearing a dress that Johnny Was made for me,” Squibb says. “They also made my Oscar dress, and so many people loved it.”

A previous Cannes attendee (she went in 2013 for Nebraska), Squibb is a red carpet veteran. For anyone seeking pointers, she’s got a classic piece of advice: “The best advice I’ve gotten for the red carpet is ‘be yourself,’” she says.

Now, with the red carpet behind her, she’s looking forward to sharing the film with everyone else. “In Cannes, I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s reaction to my film, Eleanor the Great,” she says. “I think it is a wonderful film and am very proud of it.”
