The controversy erupted soon after the makers of War 2 released the much-anticipated teaser of the action-packed sequel on the occasion of Jr NTR’s birthday. While the spotlight remained on the intense showdown between Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, Kiara’s brief appearance in a bikini sequence unexpectedly stole attention online. Dressed in a bold swimwear ensemble, she was seen walking beside a pool—an image that quickly went viral.
However, Varma’s decision to share stills from the teaser with suggestive remarks drew swift backlash. Social media users were quick to call out the filmmaker for objectifying the actress. “Ram Gopal Varma has lost it,” wrote one user. Some users also questioned the inappropriateness of such comments being made in public.

Kiara, on the other hand, acknowledged the buzz around her brief appearance with grace. Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, she shared a note expressing her excitement: “Lots of firsts in this. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is slated for release on Independence Day 2025. A sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, the film is part of YRF’s expanding spy universe and marks Kiara Advani’s debut in the action genre under the banner.
