NEW DELHI: A poster slamming Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and calling for saving Brahmins has come up in Uttar Pradesh following the controversy over his party’s remarks on UP deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak. The poster read, “Akhilesh ko dur bhagana hai, Brahmanon ka samman bachana hai,” meaning “Akhilesh must be driven away, Brahmins’ honour must be saved.”The poster was put up by the ruling Bhartiya Janta Party’s (BJP) Yuva Morcha general secretary Amit Tripathi at the GPO intersection in Hazratganj. It added, “Bhramin Brajesh Pathak ji k Sanman mein, Yuva Morcha maidan mein, (In honour of Brahmin Brajesh Pathak ji, Yuva Morcha is out on the ground).“Akhilesh Ji! Enough of the deceit, enough of the anti-Brahmin game, make your anti-Brahmin agents understand, or else… the whole caste politics game will be exposed,” the poster in Hindi further read.Earlier, posters reading “Akhilesh Yadav maafi maango”( Akhilesh Yadav apologise) had appeared in Lucknow. This controversy began with a war of words between SP’s official X handle and the deputy CM. Pathak, in a post, questioned the party’s DNA, and SP’s response was deemed derogatory by the BJP, leading to an FIR.Akhilesh Yadav addressed the controversy on Sunday and assured that such conduct would not repeat, but also criticised Pathak.Akhilesh claimed Pathak was attacking their Yaduvanshi identity. “As a health minister, it is expected that you understand that talking dirty about someone’s DNA is actually accusing not a person, but their lineage and origin going back to ages. As we are Yaduvanshis related to Lord Krishna, your attack on our DNA hurts us religiously,” he said.In response to the post from SP, Pathak had posted a screenshot of the deleted tweet and questioned whether such language was acceptable from a political party’s official handle. “Akhilesh ji, is this the language of your party?”
