In a late-night post, President Donald Trump called for an official investigation into former Vice President Kamala Harris, alleging her campaign improperly paid celebrities for their endorsements. The Truth Social post, shared at 1:34 a.m. ET, accused Harris of using entertainment expenses to cover endorsement payments.

Trump claimed Harris engaged in a “very expensive and desperate effort” to boost the appearance of public support. He named celebrities like Bruce Springsteen, Oprah Winfrey, Beyonc, and Bono, saying their involvement was part of a “CORRUPT & UNLAWFUL” strategy. “IT’S NOT LEGAL!” Trump wrote in all caps, further calling the entertainers “unpatriotic.”

    Celebrity Support Sparks Controversy

According to Axios, Trump’s remarks come after several high-profile entertainers, including Taylor Swift and Springsteen, strongly opposed him.

During a recent concert, he labelled Trump “corrupt” and “treasonous.” Trump has also faced criticism for attacking celebrities critical of him while receiving support from figures like Kid Rock.

    Did Harris Pay for Endorsements?

Allegations that celebrities were paid to support Harris have circulated, though no evidence has confirmed this. Campaign finance records show Harris’ campaign paid $1 million to Oprah Winfrey’s production company, Harpo, for hosting a televised town hall. Similarly, Beyonc’s company reportedly received $165,000 for production-related expenses.

However, representatives for both Winfrey and Beyonc denied making any personal payments. Beyonc’s mother, Tina Knowles clarified that her daughter “did not receive a penny” for participating in a campaign event in Texas.

Adrienne Elrod, a senior adviser for Harris’ campaign, addressed the controversy last year, affirming that no artist or performer was ever paid an endorsement fee. She explained that the campaign followed all regulations and only covered essential costs associated with events, such as production and logistics.

Elrod stressed that all campaign activities adhered to federal finance laws: “There are laws that have to be followed, and we’ve complied fully.”

Currently, no formal investigation is underway regarding Trump’s claims.
