The Oscar winner is kicking off promotion for her new Yorgos Lanthimos film, Bugonia, in New York today, where she mixed summer and fall trends. Dressed in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton, naturally, Stone kept butter yellow afloat in a crewneck sweater, which she paired with an off-white, lace-trimmed midi skirt. Stone embraced the crisp fall weather, adding a classic trench coat atop her thick sweater and lightweight skirt.

While she played it safe with a monogram shoulder bag and oversized cateye sunglasses, Stone dipped a toe into subversion with her footwear choice. She opted for a pair of pointy-toe pumps, fastened with an ankle strap. But instead of a classic leather or satin, Stone’s shoes were fashioned in brown mesh.
Though mesh flats have been around for a while, the heel takes the diaphanous look in a sexier, almost perverted, direction—certainly appropriate for a woman who won her second Academy Award portraying the adventurous Bella Baxter. While it’s not as freaky as, say, the articulated toes of a Vibram toe shoe, or even a split-toe of a Tabi, Emma Stone is showing the curious how to microdose a freaky shoe this fall.
