Actor Rajat Bedi, best known for his role as the antagonist in Hrithik Roshan’s sci-fi hit Koi… Mil Gaya, recently opened up about a key scene in the film he feels he could have handled better. Despite being part of one of Bollywood’s most iconic sci-fi dramas, the film didn’t significantly impact his career trajectory. In a recent interview, Rajat revisited the experience and shared how it shaped him as an actor.

Rajat Bedi on His Role in Koi Mil Gaya
In a conversation with News18 Showsha, Rajat reflected on one particular scene from Koi… Mil Gaya that continues to stay with him. “I wasn’t a mature actor back then, even when I was doing Koi… Mil Gaya,” he admitted. “There was this one scene between Duggu (Hrithik Roshan) and me. It was my moment to stand out, and Rakesh ji (Rakesh Roshan) really wanted me to own it.”
Rajat recalled that although the scene was filmed after several takes and suggestions from Rakesh Roshan, he later received feedback that left a lasting impression. “Rakesh ji later said, ‘Rajat, tujhe pata hai woh scene tera tha? You had to eat Duggu up in that scene! But you didn’t do that.’ That hit me hard. I didn’t understand the importance of it back then,” he shared.
Feeling Left Out During Promotions
In earlier interviews, Rajat had also mentioned his disappointment at being left out of the film’s promotional activities. While he had expressed feeling sidelined, he later clarified that there was no fallout with the filmmaker or the team.
Over time, Rajat relocated to Canada and explored a different career path, venturing into real estate. However, his passion for acting remained alive.
A Comeback and Renewed Perspective
Now more grounded by life’s experiences, Rajat believes he is a better performer today. “I’ve been through personal and professional ups and downs. Those things humble you. They also make you a better actor because you’ve felt more, lived more,” he said. He credited actor-dancer Raghav Juyal for inspiring him creatively during a recent project. “Raghav reminds me of Govinda. His spontaneity and style are inspiring. I’ve learned a lot just watching him.”
Rajat’s Latest Project: The Ba***ds of Bollywood
Rajat recently returned to the screen in The Ba***ds of Bollywood, which also marked Aryan Khan’s directorial debut. In the show, he played a once-famous actor struggling to revive his career after a 15-year hiatus — a role he said felt “very personal” and cathartic. “It was almost like playing a version of myself,” he admitted. “The emotions were real.”
Though Koi… Mil Gaya was a defining moment for Rajat Bedi, the actor admits he wasn’t able to fully capitalise on it at the time. Years later, with a fresh perspective and more life experience, he has found renewed passion for acting and is making a thoughtful return to the screen.
